Log limit vs Expires After

Hi,

Under Client Log Settings in the Database Properties of a SEPM, there is a field for limiting the number of entries for a particular long, and there is another field labeled Expires after.  If you exceed the configured number of entries, does that take precedence?  For example, if I configured the control log to have a limit of 10,000 and and expires after for 30 days, but the 10,001st message comes in, does the limit setting prevent the log from containing that 10,001st message or will the oldest event be purged even if it isn't 30 days old?
