I am conducting tests on an upgrade of our SEP from 11.x to 12.x. I've created two sites due to the geographical distribution of clients, some of them with low-capacity DSL connections. I think I'm understanding SEPM vs GUP for supporting these locations. But I've run into at least one consequence that I wasn't expecting.
Each site uses its own database. I get that. We're importing Acitve Directory Organizational Units OU's) and using those for our grouping. But the OU's show status in only one of the two sites. If I synch A.D. into site 1, site 2 shows them permanently offline. And vice versa if I reverse the order in which I sync the OU's.
I don't see any errors in the logs to explain this as a problem. Is it, perhaps, simply a consequence of having multiple sites? Only one site shows their status at any given time?
As far as I can determine, it doesn't seem to matter which SEPM is the primary assigned to the OU. In fact, the site 1 SEPM actually shows itself offline when its OU syncs to site 2.
