I am having a problem with a client on SEP 11.7. It was reported to us as an unmanaged machine and upon investigation the SMC service had stopped. However when trying to start this we get error 1053 The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. I have tried replacing the serdef.dat and cltdef.dat files as this would normally resolve the issue but in this case it hasn't. I have tried uninstalling SEP deleting the folders from Program Files/Common Files and Documents and Settings/All Users/App Data/, rebooting and then reinstalling but I still get the same issue with the SMC service not being able to start. I have attached the screenshot of the errors I receive.
