Hi everyone,
I am hoping you can please help me with a couple of issues I have with regards to SQL connectivity for SEP 12.1.
Issue 1:
I have setup SSL encryption for a SQL server being used by our SEP 12.1 management server database. However, despite using the SQL client tools on the SEP management server, I receive the following login error within SQL:
"Encryption is required to connect to this server but the client library does not support encryption; the connection has been closed. Please upgrade your client library".
This is a shared SQL Server, where all other applications can connect just fine with encryption.
Also, our SEP support tech assures me he entered the correct file path to the SQL client tools (2008 R2).
I am essentially trying to achieve the same result as the following post:

Can anyone confirm if they have managed to get SEP to use an encrypted connection to a SQL Server?
Issue 2:
Despite entering the SQL instance port number as part of the SEP 12.1 installation, it seems it is still reliant upon the SQL Browser Service. Could anyone please confirm if the Browser Service must be running for SEP 12.1 to connect? If so, wouldn't entering in the port number be somewhat redundant? The following article is old, so I'm not sure if it applies.

Grateful for any assistance.
Thanks,
Paul
