I have read the doc here: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH148333 that explains the procedure and lists the steps below:
Steps to create and map a content folder in another disk or partition:
- Install another disk drive at the SEPM server.
- Using the Windows Disk Manager, format and initialize the disk.
- When the disk is ready and online, create a new folder on it and name it content.
- Stop the SEPM, database and all other related services.
- Go to C:\Program Files\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Inetpub\content and move all the content of this folder to the new folder created in the new disk drive.
- Remove the folder C:\Program Files\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Inetpub\content.
- Create a new shortcut and point to the folder named content in the new disk drive.
- Test the access to the shortcut.
- Start the SEPM and database services.
My issue is with step 6 and 7, and exactly where and how my shortcut needs to be configured to point to the new location. For example let's say my new content directory is "D:\content". Does this mean for step 7. I need to create a shortcut in C:\Program Files\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Inetpub\"shortcut to D:\content.lnk" and restart the services? Will the SEPm database services automatically accept that and work? Not sure if I need a specfic name, syntax, or folder permissions on the new directory (doc is a bit vague). I'm also concerned what the implications would be when time to upgrade the server SEPm from 12.1.3 to 12.1.5.
Please advise,
