I have inherited a server running Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager 12.1.4023.4080. Our admin who used to manage it has left the company. I need to update/upgrade to 12.1.5 and migrate SEPM to a new server.
I have found the various articles recommending following disaster recovery procedure to backup the internal database and recovery file, then restore them on the new installation on the new server.

I can create the database backup just fine. My problem is that I cannot find the correct recovery file. I know it is in the "Server Private Key Backup" folder; there are four such folders on the server (failed installations? a quick backup? it's a mess)
There are dozens of old recovery_timestamp.zip files in those folders, all of them over eight months old. Last month we renewed our license and added seats. According to this article, "Additional recovery files will be generated when upgrading to a newer version or after some configuration changes." If the recovery file contains license info, it should be updated when the licensing is updated, correct?

There are no recovery files that have been generated since the license renewal. How to I force SEPM to generate a current recovery file? If I can collect the files manually, how can I be certain that I am collecting them from the correct, active installation?
