Whitelist and Centralized Exceptions

Good Morning\Afternoon,

If you exclude a folder or file through a centralized exceptions policy, for example from all scans, does this exclude this file or folder from application whitelisting, or do I need to create an approved application via the System lockdown GUI?

We have quite a few folder exceptions in our centralized policy, and if I right click these directories and scan for viruses it scans no files as I would expect. Yet I still get entries in System Lockdown --> unapproved applications.

We are currently running in logging mode only.
